• C-17 Globemaster

The Boeing C-17 Globemaster III is the most modern heavy military transport aircraft in the West. It has short take-off and landing characteristics and can operate from unpaved runways. The thrust reverser, which can be used in flight, allows steep landing approaches to minimize the risk of enemy fire. In addition, it can drop loads and soldiers from any altitude in flight.
All of this makes them enormously versatile. Since entering service with the US Air Force in 1993, the aircraft has proven itself in almost every conflict involving the US, most recently in August 2021, when 823 people were evacuated from Kabul on a single aircraft.

  • C-5 Galaxy

First flown in 1968, the C-5 Galaxy is a true giant! Until the introduction of the Soviet Antonov An-124, it was the largest aircraft in the world. The huge shoulder-wing aircraft is a heavy, military wide-body transporter for strategic use.
With a maximum range of almost 13,000 kilometres, the airborne refuelled machine can be used globally and can carry a payload of 130 tonnes. The transport of battle tanks or helicopters over intercontinental distances is their main task. Since a successor model is not yet in development, the giant is to remain in service until 2040.
