The history of the German Air Force (Luftwaffe – Heeresflieger – Marineflieger) has hardly been dealt in summary since its establishment in 1956. This new series aims to present the history and development of these own areas of the German armed forces.
In this issue, the F-104 Starfighter and the events of June 19, 1962, the Black Day of the Air Force, are the focus. In addition, the operation of the Huntington Percival Pembroke in the Air Force, Naval Aviation and Army Aviation is highlighted. Further topics are the chronicles of Jagdgeschwader 3 Vladimir Komarow of the LSK/NVA and the Marinefliegergeschwader 2 (MFG 2).
