Der Luftangriff auf Mailand am 14. Februar 1916/ The Air Raid on Milan on 14 February 1916
68,00 €The bombing of the Milan power station by Austro-Hungarian military airmen was a high-risk commando on a completely new strategic target.
However, this plan did not become feasible until February 1916, when Ferdinand Porsche was able to deliver the improved Austro-Daimler engine and the Lohner aircraft-plant were able to deliver the new aircraft model B.VII.
Now, finally, the unique opportunity arose to attack the energy supply of the Italian war industry.
But for this unprecedented squadron flight, all performance limits had to be reached at least, and the plan, despite the greatest secrecy, was betrayed even at the last moment.
The author has succeeded in completely reconstructing the history of this interesting plan for the first time.
The documentation of this particularly exciting chapter of k.u.k. military aviation is supplemented by many plans, diaries and original photos from archives and private collections, which have never been published before.

Der Seekrieg in der Adria 1914-1918
48,00 €Maritime operations in the Mediterranean and Adriatic during the First World War were sometimes considered and described in Anglo-American and German history books as secondary, although they were important not only for the states that lay on their coasts, but also for the fate of the great empires whose maritime traffic passed through these areas.
The constant competition between the British Royal Navy and the then still new German Imperial Navy, whose emergence and rapid development posed a challenge to Great Britain as ruler of the seas, attracted attention to the operations in the North Sea and overshadowed events on other seas.
In addition to the operations on the Adriatic Sea, some important operations in the Mediterranean, the Aegean, the Dardanelles and the Sea of Marmara are briefly described here, because they tied up numerous ships of the Entente and prevented their work on the Adriatic, which facilitated the situation of the Austro-Hungarian Navy.

24,90 €He is the big brother of the Haflinger: the Steyr-Puch Pinzgauer.

Essentially, there are two versions: a 4×4 and a 6×6 version, which have been adapted for the various tasks. For many years, a gasoline engine was used, which was later replaced by a diesel engine.
With the Pinzgauer, both the Austrian Armed Forces and the Swiss Army were supplied with several thousand units. After almost 30 years of production and 24,000 vehicles built, production was discontinued in 2000.

Deutsche Grosse Kreuzer und Panzerkreuzer
45,00 €From a total of fifteen Large Cruisers of the German Imperial Navy, six vessels were large cruisers protected by an armored deck only, with other nine being armored cruisers. From the latter category two prototypes were built, followed by three series of two ships each, and by one final single vessel, that represented the zenith of this type built for the Imperial Navy. Six oldest protected cruisers were removed from the frontline service early in the WW I, but from nine armored cruisers six were sunk during the war, with two best-known Scharnhorst and Gneisenau being lost in the South Atlantic, and the newest armored cruiser Blücher during a battle in the North Sea, also fighting against a more powerful adversary, the battlecruisers.
The already well-known maritime author Zvonimir Freivogel is in this richly illustrated book describing the development of the German and foreign armored cruisers as well, the vessels that were having their zenith in the late 19th and early 20th Century, to be made obsolete by the battlecruisers. In addition to the overview of technical data of the German Large Cruisers (from Kaiserin Augusta to Blücher), their less-known missions, as they also took part at international Missions, and their training cruises on all WorldŽs oceans before the WW I are listed in detail, together with the operations executed during the war and with their final fates.

Deutsche Kriegsschiffe -Das kaiserliche Ostasien-Geschwader 1859-1914
19,94 €Because Imperial Germany wanted to become a world power, it tried to be present on all the world’s oceans and to acquire colonies. The naval units should protect them, enforce claims and show strength. They did not always have pure representational measures, as the Boxer Rebellion proves.
In this new publication, naval expert Hans Karr dedicates himself to Germany’s maritime colonial history. He describes the foreign cruisers and stations, the naval base Tsingtau, the East Asian cruiser squadron from 1897 to 1914 and its ships of the Asian and Australian stations. -

The author gives the reader a comprehensive overview of all mine-, -search and laying forces.

Deutsche Panzertechnik. Motoren und Getriebe 1925-1945
39,90 €Early on, tank-building nations experimented with different types of engines and designs. Germany initially lagged behind, but then began to adapt Maybach engines – originally intended for use in trucks and luxury cars – accordingly before the start of the official rearmament.
Closely related to this was the question of steerability, and hardly any details have been found about all these factors so far, until now: Michael Fröhlich dedicates a well-founded reference work on the subject of German tank engines, as well as manual and steering transmissions.
Many never-before-seen illustrations, technical drawings and sketches complete the volume.
563 pictures (b/w and colour pictures (of today, also details), b/w and coloured technical drawings). -
Deutsche Scharfschützenwaffen 1914-1945

Die deutsche Kühlschifffahrt / German Reefer Shipping Geschichte, Reedereien und Schiffe / History, Companies and Vessel
29,95 €The German reefer fleet was one of the leading in the world for many years after the Second World War. The banana hunters with their yacht-like appearance attracted special attention in every port. Today, reefer ships are in tough competition with the container lines, with good service and short transit times guaranteeing the reefers survival, at least in the medium term.
From the end of the 19th century until today, almost 400 of these ships were operated by German shipping companies. The authors are two proven shipping experts, Karl-Heinz Hilbig and Karsten Kunibert Krüger-Kopiske (K4), whose nine books that have been published so far have mainly, but not only, attracted attention with their perfect drawings. In this book the authors present each of the more than 400 German reefer ships with technical data, curriculum vitae, drawings and photos.
The history of each reefer shipping company and the biography of each ship are part of the book, as are texts on important historical, technical and economic backgrounds that contribute to understanding the industry.
More than 50 photos and reproductions of paintings, some of which have not yet been published, complete the work. -
Die Eroberung der Taklamakan
59,90 €Since the mid-80s, Chinese customers have ordered a large number of special vehicles that are used in the search for raw materials. Thousands of trucks from well-known manufacturers were exported to China in the following years.
This book follows in the footsteps of the vehicles into the second largest sand desert in the world, the Taklamakan in western China. Large oil deposits lie under a sea of sand dunes. For the exploration and extraction of the raw materials, the best manufacturers in the world were commissioned to provide their constructions to conquer the desert. Companies such as Daimler-Benz, MAN, MOL, Kenworth, Astra, Foremost, Oshkosh, Isuzu, Titan and others responded to the call. In this way, the Chinese oil companies gained valuable experience, which today makes them the market leaders in the exploration of desert areas all over the world. We also follow these traces as far as the Sahara and the Gulf States.

Die Feldgrauen Reiter. Die berittenen und bespannten Truppen in Reichswehr und Wehrmacht
24,90 €Although the development of weapons in traditional form had made the use of cavalry practically impossible in the First and Second World Wars, horses and cavalrymen continued to be part of the German armies. Since 1914, the riders wore the new field grey uniforms for the first time. In this volume, the author shows the extent to which horses, riders, drivers and horse powered (harnessed) vehicles shaped the nature of the army and influenced its structure and possibilities.
Equipped with excellent pictures, this chronicle about the field grey cavalrymen offers a wealth of military historical facts and data.
