Avro Lancaster Mk.I/III. LATE Productions Batches 1943-1945 Wingleader Photo Archive Number 15
27,95 €The last volume (WPA 5) covered Mk I/III early production batches up to 1943 (L7527 to JB748), whereas this one covers Mk I/IIIs from 1943 to the end of the war (HK535 to SW279). Weve avoided post-war Lancs and other Mks as they will appear in a future volume. Also set aside for a future volume is a more in-depth look into the interior of the Lancaster and the various equipment that was carried.

Avro Lancaster, Part. 3: Mks II, VI, X, Type 464 and B.I (Special) 1942-1945. Wingleader Photo Archive Number 18
27,95 €Having covered the wartime Mk.I and III in the previous two books, this third book completes the Lancasters wartime career by looking at the other Mks that flew with RAF Bomber Command. These other Mks are the radial engined Mk.II, the Canadian built Mk.X, the experimental Mk.VI, the Dambusters Type 464 and the Grand Slam carrying B.I (Special). Produced in smaller numbers for various reasons, these Mks rarely get a lot of coverage in mainstream books so weve tried to do them justice in this volume.
Again its our absolute pleasure to introduce a new author to the series. A professional aircraft engineer and the son of a wartime Lancaster pilot, Peter Allam is a Lancaster expert in every sense of the word, and his in-depth knowledge was really needed with this one to pull out details on these lesser known examples.
As with all the books in this series, weve enhanced the photos to pull out the shadow detail and have added arrows and letters to identify points of interest.

Battle of Britain Combat Archive: Battle of Britain Day SUPPLEMENT
27,50 €When it came to publish Volume 13 of the BofBCA series, the publisher realised that it simply had too much material to fit into the book for the 15th September. This was the day of course when the RAF claimed 185 victories and these combat reports alone would have filled an entire volume(!), so they decided to print all of this extra material in a supplemental volume for those who would be interested.
The final 80 page book therefore forms an essential companion volume to Vol 13 of the main series. It includes the following:
The Legend of Battle of Britain Day
Luftwaffe strength and effort
Fighter Commands tactics
Görings reaction
Effect on Unternehmen Seelöwe
The Legacy of Over-Claiming
Sorties flown by RAF Pilots

Blitz Bombers. Kampfgeschwader 76 and the Arado Ar 234 Luftwaffe Jet Bombers on the Western Front 1944-1945
69,95 €This is the first time that the story of the Arado Ar 234 as the world’s first dedicated jet-bomber has been told in such detail in the English language.
In late December 1944 the Luftwaffe surprised the Allies when it unexpectedly introduced a new, high-speed bomber to its inventory. Though deployed in small numbers, the Arado Ar 234 B-2 jet-bomber proved itself an effective day and night strike aircraft over the Western Front and a tough challenge for Allied fighter pilots who tried to counter it.
Powered by the same Jumo 004 turbojets as the Me 262, the Ar 234 could attack pinpoint targets such as transport hubs or enemy vehicle columns and troop assemblies in ‘glide attacks’ with a high degree of impunity. The jets were flown by experienced and often highly decorated Luftwaffe bomber pilots who worked hard to master the new aircraft in a short time and amidst the chaotic conditions of a Third Reich in decline.
‘Blitz Bombers’ tells the story of KG 76’s operations when equipped with what was the world’s first jet bomber, the Arado Ar 234 B-2. The book is founded on original unit diaries, reports and other records, as well as various German and Allied material drawn from archives and private collections gathered over many years. It traces KG 76’s period working up on the aircraft and its subsequent combat operations over the Western Front from December 1944 through to the end of the war.
The Geschwader’s jets took part in operations over the Ardennes, in the ill-fated Bodenplatte attack of New Year’s Day 1945, in missions against the Allied armies driving into the Reich in early 1945, and in a series of intensive strikes against the Ludendorff bridge at Remagen and the bridgehead established there by the Allies in March 1945.
Following many years research, the book includes nearly 300 illustrations, comprised of rare photographs of KG 76’s aircraft, personnel and equipment, as well as the Allied aircraft and pilots who encountered the Arados in combat, plus key documents taken from the unit’s records. These are supplemented by specially commissioned and highly detailed colour artwork depicting the unit’s aircraft.
245 photos and documents, maps, technical drawings, 8 newly commissioned colour profiles, plus detail views created by renowned digital artist Janusz Swiatlon and appendices. -
Blueprint Military Jeep Neuauflage des Haynes Enthusiasts‘ Manual 1940 Onwards
39,95 €The Jeep is among a handful of motor vehicles, along with other classics such as the VW ‚Beetle‘, the Mini, the E-Type Jaguar and the Citroën 2CV which are deserving of that overused adjective, iconic.
This book, now enlarged and revised and with many new pictures, covers the story of the development of this iconic military vehicle and the myriad post-war ‚lookalikes‘. It also provides insight into what is involved in finding, restorying and running a military Jeep more than 80 years since the first prototype was delivered to the US Army in July 1940.
It is a reliable guide to help enthusiasts find parts and to devide how a particular Jeep can be authentically restored. The book’s author, Pat Ware, is amongst the world’s foremost writers on historical military vehicles, with more than 60 titles and countless magazine articles on his credits.

Bristol’s Buckingham, Brigand and Buckmaster
34,95 €In late 1939, the Air Ministry were looking to replace the Blenheim as a medium bomber. Bristol Aircraft Company (BAC) initially came up with a bomber development of the Beaufighter, the Type 161. Due to specification changes and redesigns, the end result was the Type 163 Buckingham, a twin engined, twin tailed medium bomber. At the time of the Buckinghams conception inquiries were made about a torpedo bomber version. A redesign of the Buckingham brought about the Type 164 Brigand. The torpedo requirement was eventually dropped and the aircraft re-configures as a bomber. With no suitable trainers to train the Buckingham and Brigand pilots BAC came up with the Buckmaster, which was basically a Buckingham with a new nose section containing dual controls.
By the time the Buckingham and Brigand entered service their roles had been superseded with newer and better aircraft. Most Buckinghams went straight into storage to await their fate, but some were converted in high speed courier aircraft with four seats. But it was too little too late. The Mosquito could do a better job at almost half the cost. The Brigand with its long range was earmarked for the Far East and the battle against Japan, but the war ended before they could be sent over. It was the Malaya Emergency that saved the Brigand. Carrying out a role for which it was never designed, that of a dive bomber, two Squadrons carried out over 3,500 against the Communist Terrorist.

C-130 Hercules
34,90 €The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is undoubtedly one of the most famous and versatile military aircraft in the world. To this day, the machine is built in series more than 60 years after its first flight! From the basic variant, numerous special versions developed, some of which take on extremely spectacular special tasks, mostly in military use.
But also civilian versions of the transporter were built, such as Arctic versions or firefighting aircraft. The German Air Force is now adding six C-130J Super Hercules to its arsenal.

C-17 Globemaster
34,90 €The Boeing C-17 Globemaster III is the most modern heavy military transport aircraft in the West. It has short take-off and landing characteristics and can operate from unpaved runways. The thrust reverser, which can be used in flight, allows steep landing approaches to minimize the risk of enemy fire. In addition, it can drop loads and soldiers from any altitude in flight.
All of this makes them enormously versatile. Since entering service with the US Air Force in 1993, the aircraft has proven itself in almost every conflict involving the US, most recently in August 2021, when 823 people were evacuated from Kabul on a single aircraft.

C-5 Galaxy
34,90 €First flown in 1968, the C-5 Galaxy is a true giant! Until the introduction of the Soviet Antonov An-124, it was the largest aircraft in the world. The huge shoulder-wing aircraft is a heavy, military wide-body transporter for strategic use.
With a maximum range of almost 13,000 kilometres, the airborne refuelled machine can be used globally and can carry a payload of 130 tonnes. The transport of battle tanks or helicopters over intercontinental distances is their main task. Since a successor model is not yet in development, the giant is to remain in service until 2040.

Convoy Battles. U-Bootangriffe gegen die Geleitzüge U-boat attacks against the convoys
35,00 €The German U-boat campaign against Allied shipping, termed The Battle of the Atlantic by the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, was the longest continuous military operation during World War Two. It included numerous battles between Allied convoys and German U-boat groups sent out to interrupt the maritime lifelines between Britain and the rest of the world. However, with the art of operational history unjustly dismissed in historical circles for many decades, precise knowledge about the bitter fighting on the oceans is surprisingly incomplete even today. This book focuses on three exemplary convoy battles to tell their true stories, hour by hour, day by day, and to pay tribute to those who paid the utmost price in the fight against tyranny. The operations around Convoy S.C. 7 in 1940, Convoy S.C. 118 in 1943 and the combined convoy J.W. 66 R.A. 66 just days before the end.
